Induction heats in a dynamic new way using a strong magnetic field created by electricity running under a ceramic plate. The current generates heat to any magnetic cookware which is on the hob plate. It will NOT work without a pan on the hob. Only cookware that has a thermocore base will work with induction. Glass pans will not work on induction hobs ! Try the fridge magnet test on your favourite pans. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan then it will work on induction cookers .
